Agreement to Terms

By creating an account and using Typewave, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

Typewave is a voice dictation service for Windows that converts your speech to text in the applications you use. These terms govern your use of both the web application and the desktop software.

Account Registration and Security

To use Typewave, you must:

  • Provide a valid email address
  • Be at least 13 years of age
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account
  • Keep your device access tokens secure
  • Not share your account or access tokens with others

You may connect up to five devices to your account. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, revoke the affected device tokens immediately from your account page.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Typewave only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the service to create content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits or quotas
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the desktop application
  • Use the service to send spam or unsolicited messages
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
  • Use automated systems to access the service except through the official desktop application
  • Resell or redistribute the service without written permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

The Service

How It Works

Typewave provides voice-to-text transcription by:

  • Receiving audio from your Windows desktop application
  • Processing that audio through a third-party speech recognition service
  • Returning the transcribed text to your desktop application

Your audio is processed in real-time and is not stored by Typewave. We forward your audio to a speech recognition provider only for the duration of the request.

Supported Features

The service currently includes:

  • Speech-to-text transcription in 100+ languages with automatic language detection
  • Translation to English (via Alt+T shortcut in the Windows application)
  • Custom spelling prompts for specialized terminology

Additional features including filler word removal are under development and may become available in the future.

Usage Limits and Quotas

Your account may be subject to usage limits including:

  • Monthly transcription time limits (measured in seconds of audio)
  • Minimum billable duration of 10 seconds per transcription request
  • Maximum of five active device access tokens
  • File size limits for audio uploads (currently 4 MB per request)

If you exceed your usage quota, transcription requests will be declined until your quota resets or is increased. During the private beta period, unlimited usage may be available for participating accounts.

Payment and Pricing

Typewave is currently in private beta. Pricing for general availability has not been announced. If you are participating in the beta:

  • Your usage limits and terms may differ from future paid plans
  • We will provide advance notice before converting beta accounts to paid plans
  • You will have the opportunity to review pricing before being charged

Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Key points:

  • We do not store your audio recordings or transcript content
  • We collect usage metadata (audio duration, timestamps) for billing and service operation
  • Your audio is processed by a third-party speech recognition service

Intellectual Property

Typewave and the desktop application are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your personal or business use.

The text you create using Typewave belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership rights to your transcripts.

Third-Party Services

Typewave relies on third-party services for:

  • Audio transcription and translation through a speech recognition provider
  • Account authentication and data storage through cloud infrastructure providers
  • Web application hosting and delivery

These services have their own terms of service and privacy policies. While we choose providers carefully, we are not responsible for their actions or policies.

Service Availability

We strive to keep Typewave available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable due to:

  • Maintenance and updates
  • Third-party service outages
  • Technical difficulties
  • Events beyond our reasonable control

We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

Warranties and Disclaimers

TYPEWAVE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Transcriptions will be 100% accurate
  • The service will meet your specific requirements
  • Defects will be corrected

You use Typewave at your own risk. Always review transcriptions for accuracy, especially for critical or sensitive content.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the service
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • Errors or inaccuracies in transcriptions
  • Any other matter relating to the service

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Typewave and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Content you create using the service

Termination

You may stop using Typewave at any time. You can request account deletion by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, for:

  • Violation of these terms
  • Non-payment (once paid plans are introduced)
  • Abuse of the service
  • At our discretion for operational reasons

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will attempt to notify you via email.

Your continued use of Typewave after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, stop using the service.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Typewave should first be addressed by contacting us directly. We prefer to resolve issues informally when possible.

General

These Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement between you and Typewave regarding the service. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
